My Quest for the Perfect John Mayer Tone

A deep dive into my Reaper setup, using Neural Amp Modeler to capture that mid-scooped 'Slow Dancing' sound.

My Quest for the Perfect John Mayer Tone

I've spent way too many nights tweaking IRs and gain stages.

'Tone is in the fingers, but the right gear definitely helps you stay inspired.' — My current philosophy.

In this post, I break down my current signal chain:
* Neural Amp Modeler (NAM): For that organic tube response.
* Boutique Clean IRs: Specifically 2x12 open-back cabs.
* A touch of plate reverb: 15% wet to add some space.
